How to Download for Sims 1

How to Download for Sims 1 Well I see you made it this far lol. And your probably wondering how do I get these pretty objects and pretty wallpapers and floors into my game? It seems complicated at first, but after downloading a few times , well you'll start feeling pretty darn good about yourself and what you can accomplish. I know I sure did when I first started downloading. Your going to need to download WinRar , before you start downloading. This program will let you open the new files . You can get that here http://www.rarlab.com/ OK so now this is what you will need to do first, This is for Windows Operating Systems, if you have a MAC...well I am at a loss there. Look down at the bar at the bottom of your computer screen, see the Start button there? Click on that .Now look for MY COMPUTER, click on it, look for C drive ( this is where your going to find almost all of your computer's files). Do you see Program Files in there? open that up by clicking on it. Now your going to look for Maxis. If a screen comes up and says that these are Hidden Files and Folders , are you sure you want to look at them, Click yes. Your not going into anything that is going to hurt your computer here. Ok so now, hopefully you have found the Maxis Folder. Look for Sims, Click on it to open it up and look for Downloads. Now click on this folder to open it up. On the top of your Window , look for File. Click on it, Now see where it says New? Click on it to add a new file to your Downloads Folder inside of your Maxis Folder. Ok , are you still with me? Now go to the folder you just made and right click on it. See how the name is highlighted? And a box comes up with options? Scroll down and choose RENAME... hit your back button or delete to remove NEW FOLDER, Now type in the Name of the Site or Group you are going to download from in there. WOW you did it... cool you have just added you first of many new download folders to your Sims1 Game Ok so now here's what your going to do with the files that your are downloading. All of the Objects are going to have .iff after them. Theses files are going into your downloads folder. Objects are tables, chairs, sofa's, end tables ,lamp's .beds. desk's, rug's, pictures, sculpture's , and kind of decorative item that you may find . .iff files always go into your download folder, unless the credit text that comes with alot of Sims 1 stuff says otherwise. Now , for wallpapers and floors , they are going to go into a different part of your Maxis folder. Your going to go back to Maxis, then look for Sims , again click on it to open it up, Now look for Game Data Click on this file to open it . Look at the list of folders in here. Do you see Walls and Floors ? These are seperate folders . Wallpapers will look like this desertrose.wll ( example) Anything that has .wll after it you will put in you Wall Folder in your Game Data Folder. Now for your pretty new floors. Floor files will look like this Desertrose.flr ( example) Anything that has .flr after it will go into your Floor folder in your Game Data Folder. So here's how it goes, .iff files Start/MyComputer/C/ProgramFiles/Maxis/Sims/Downloads/ .wll files Start/MyComputer/C/ProgramFiles/Maxis/Sims/GameData/Walls .flr files Start/MyComputer/C/ProgramFiles/Maxis/Sims/GameData/Floors Skins Start/MyComputer/C/ProgramFiles/Maxis/Sims/GameData/skins Happy Downloading!!!!
